Yaxley FC hosted a youth and junior tournament at APG Park on Friday, with more than 250 children and young people, along with their coaches and parents, coming through the doors. A Junior Halloween party followed that night and was again a full house, the club said.
Chair Raph Frascogna thanked Callum Reed, Vice Chair of the Youth & Junior section, for overseeing the work. He recalled the state of the facility in February this year: "The pitch was locked with chains, the building was closed, and the facility was in a poor state." He said: "Get the environment right, put the right people in place, and it's amazing what can happen."
Frascogna also corrected a description of the event by Hunts FA, which had reposted the club's news. He said it was not down to a small group of volunteers, pointing to lots of club members and their partners who pulled together for the tournament. At the Halloween party, Aaron, Vice Chair of the Adult Section, gave his time as the APG Monster and brought decorations and props. The chair added that the club now has a team of staff in the building.
He said the last eight months had proved that rule true, and invited anyone wanting to be part of the club's community to send a direct message.
