Warrington Town begin replacing pitch perimeter fencing as Workington's Hunter scores first hat-trick

Warrington Town have started replacing the perimeter fencing around the pitch at The GXO Stadium to meet new FA requirements. The club said a team led by chairman Toby Macormac began knocking down the existing perimeter wall despite difficult weather during and after Saturday's home game against Gainsborough Trinity.

The work has included preparing to remove the five-foot posts that make up the perimeter, taking out concrete panels from each section and removing the advertising board frames. Once clearance is finished, a separate team will install the new fences. The club said this is due to be completed before the next scheduled home game, against Guiseley on 21 November.

A volunteer day is being held this Sunday, 1 November, from 10am. Fans who are willing and able are asked to help move discarded concrete and earth into skips. The club warned that the duties are largely heavy lifting and that the day is for adults only.

Away from the ground work, Warrington Town are also inviting school children across Warrington to design the club's away kit for the 2027/28 season. More than 30 primary schools have opted in and received their competition packs.
