Thackley's two wins in a week lift them clear in the NCEL Premier Division

Thackley Association had gone into the week without an away win all season. By Saturday evening they had two victories in four days and a pair of new forwards in the squad.

The first came on Tuesday 13 October at Rossington Main, where Reuben Bartkiw scored after five minutes and Rob Guilfoyle levelled with a penalty on the stroke of half-time. George Birley, a substitute, then scored the winner after a mix-up between keeper and defender. Rossington's report called it the defining moment, and said the loss ended a ten-match unbeaten league run. Sam Clothier, signed from Harrogate Railway, made his debut off the bench that night, and the club then confirmed Alex Ingham's arrival from Knaresborough Town.

Ingham scored on his debut on Saturday, a penalty after 33 minutes, in a 4-1 home win over Golcar United. Ashley Flynn had put the visitors ahead after 19 minutes. Lewis Sugden and Luke Brooks scored in the second half and Birley added a late fourth, his second goal of the week.

Rossington went to Frickley Athletic on Saturday intending to protect their unbeaten away record in the league. Their next scheduled home game is against Bottesford Town on 24 October.

At Handsworth, Tuesday brought a goalless draw at Knaresborough Town and a debut for striker Seb Bolton, signed that day from South Leeds. On Saturday they beat Horbury Town 2-1. Toby Kenyon equalised on the stroke of half-time after Horbury had scored inside eight minutes, and Mitch Dunne, who had a shot hit the crossbar earlier in the half, scored the winner, his 99th goal for the club, according to Handsworth's report. Alex Asaba, newly arrived from Parkgate, made his debut in the win.

Parkgate's week was busier off the pitch. Scott Mason resigned after five seasons, and the club appointed Jamie Housley as his successor. They drew 1-1 with Pickering Town on Saturday. They also learnt that Burscough had been removed from the FA Vase for fielding an ineligible player, which puts Parkgate into a tie at Nelson on 31 October. The club praised Burscough for reporting the error themselves.

Dearne & District beat Keighley Town 5-1, with Jamie Austin scoring a third hat-trick this season. Penistone Church lost 4-2 at Retford despite having nine first-team players unavailable.
