Stapenhill have announced a project update on the proposed Community 3G Sports Hub at Maple Grove, saying several milestones have been reached in the planning and assessment phase over recent weeks.
According to the club, the topographical survey has been completed and the results received, giving detailed information about the site and its layout. The ground investigation and soil makeup assessments have also been completed, which the club said will inform the next stages of design. Utility surveys and ecological surveys were carried out this week.
The club described the aim as a modern, accessible 3G facility supporting football, grassroots sport, schools, community groups, health initiatives and recreational activity across Stapenhill, Drakelow, Swadlincote and surrounding areas. It thanked residents, local organisations, players, parents, volunteers and stakeholders for their support, and said it would continue to provide regular updates. "Every survey completed brings us one step closer to making this project a reality for local people," the club said.
