Slough Town confirm Kuwaiti investment as McKimm loses first match

Wind and rain decided a good deal at Step 2 this weekend, but not as much as the paperwork did at Arbour Park. Slough Town confirmed a strategic investment and partnership with Development Holding Company, a Kuwait-based investment group, with Talal Al Ajmi becoming chairman and Mike Lightfoot stepping down to become Honorary Life President. The club said new money will go straight into the playing budget. Steve McKimm, appointed manager alongside assistant Barry Moore and first-team coach Mark Watson, took charge for the first time against Dorking Wanderers — and lost 3-1, having led through Ruben Shakpoke. George Nikaj, James McShane and Josh Barrett turned it around for the visitors. The Rebels had earlier signed winger Dennon Lewis from Dorking for an undisclosed fee on a deal to 2028, a player ineligible for Saturday but available at Truro.

The weather had the final word in Somerset, where Weston-super-Mare v Billericay Town was abandoned before half-time with the pitch waterlogged, Macauley Bonne's volley struck from the record. Supporters were issued vouchers for the rearranged game.

The afternoon's best football came at the Beveree. Truro City trailed Hampton & Richmond Borough 3-1 with 25 minutes left and won 4-3, Tyler Harvey scoring twice either side of a Ben Starkie strike from 25 yards. Truro move up to third; the Beavers, now under interim pair Max Kretzschmar and Craig Saunders following Alan Dowson's departure, handed a debut to new goalkeeper Jamie Searle.

In the North, Macclesfield and Hereford met as first against second and the Bulls won 2-1 against a Macclesfield side reduced to nine men. Buxton won 3-2 at Chorley in horrendous conditions, Sisa Tuntulwana, Kieran Burton and Johnny Johnston scoring. At Blackwell Meadows, Darlington finally found a first home win of the season, Dylan Stephenson's hat-trick sinking Spennymoor Town 3-0 in caretaker Terry Mitchell's first game since Steve Watson's departure. Harborough Town, meanwhile, learned they will visit Leyton Orient in the FA Cup first round.
