Market Drayton Town have appointed Liam Kelly as first team manager.
According to the club, Kelly joins following a spell in charge of Eccleshall, where he gained experience in the North West Counties League. The club said he had been sponsored for the season by Planned Office Interiors.
Kelly revealed that a call from chairman Simon convinced him to cut short some time away from the sport. "I won't lie, I'd been enjoying a much-needed break from football over the last few months. However, when Simon, the chairman at Market Drayton, made contact, it was an opportunity I simply couldn't turn down," he said.
He set out his immediate priority: ""First and foremost, our priority is to build a squad capable of securing our place in this division," Kelly said of the task ahead. "I'm as ambitious as any manager, but the league table doesn't lie, and we know there is plenty of work to do. Over the coming weeks, we'll look to bring in players who fit the vision we're building.""
The club also named his backroom team. Sam Golden is assistant manager, Nigel Wellings is first team coach, Aaron Kelley is physio and Alan Sutton is goalkeeper coach. Market Drayton Town said more details and statements on the backroom staff would follow the next day.
