Luke Sheehy's move from Bashley to Christchurch and a week of Wessex League cup nights

Bashley enjoyed the standout week in the Wessex League. On Saturday 19 September they beat Fleetlands 5-0 in the Premier Division. On Tuesday 22 September they beat Southampton 3-1 in the Hampshire Senior Cup, on a night when the club remembered Mike Cranidge, after whom the Main Stand is named. His children, Neil and Emma, were guests, the first team wore black armbands and there was a minute's applause before kick-off. Jack Lovell was named player of the match, voted for by the Cranidge family.

The week also brought a departure. Bashley thanked Luke Sheehy and Ben Atiako-Hall, both of whom have chosen to move on to pursue their football elsewhere. Sheehy has returned to Christchurch, where he scored eight goals last season. Christchurch had lost 4-0 at home to Hamble Club on Saturday, with Brad Gale saying: "To concede from that many set pieces is so disappointing." They then received a home walkover in the Wessex League Cup against Totton & Eling and will travel to Colden Common in the second round on Thursday 1 October.

Fleetlands, after the Bashley defeat, lost 3-2 at Horndean on Tuesday, a game decided by a stoppage-time strike from Kieran Alcock. Will Webb was named man of the match on his debut for the hosts.

At Petersfield Town, the club announced it had parted company with first-team manager Zak Sharp, with an interim manager in charge for the visit of Baffins Milton Rovers on Tuesday. The Rams drew that game 2-2, Jo Houldsworth scoring on his return and Alfie Stringer getting the second. Earlier on Saturday they had lost 2-0 at home to Brockenhurst.

Brockenhurst followed that with a 5-2 win at Sherborne Town on Wednesday, Toby Colmer, Ashton Palmier and Harry McCarthy's hat-trick among the goals credited by the club. Colmer and McCarthy had scored in the earlier win.

Downton announced the signings of Will Keita and Martin Videnov after Keita scored the winner against Millbrook. Their reserves also won a JCMS Cup tie at New Milton on penalties after a 2-2 draw.

East Cowes Victoria Athletic conceded a late equaliser in a 3-3 draw at Laverstock & Ford, who fought back from 3-1 down. Cowes Sports drew 1-1 at home to Andover New Street, who signed defenders Tommy Whitehead and Harrison Hide. Two Vase away trips have been organised: Hamworthy Recreation to Buckland Athletic and Sturminster Newton United to Newquay, both on 10 October.
