Hoddesdon Town answer Vase exit and welcome new-look Coggeshall Town

The week in Thurlow Nunn First Division South turned on how Hoddesdon Town responded to a first defeat of the season. On Saturday they lost 4-0 at Heybridge Swifts in the FA Vase, going two down before half-time. Three days later, London Harts United arrived at Lowfield and left beaten 4-1.

Harry Andic scored after six minutes, Jonah Evans curled in a left-footed effort from distance, Connor Bolton headed a third before the break and substitute Ollie Babbage added a fourth in the 87th minute. Tamás Rétyi scored a late penalty for the visitors. Evans, who also provided the assist for the opener, took the man of the match award. "I think that's the best goal I've ever scored, and I've been playing this game for a long time," he said. The result took Hoddesdon Town to 35 points from 13 league games, unbeaten, with 11 wins and two draws, according to the club.

Saturday's visitors, Coggeshall Town, are in the middle of a rebuild. Neil Blackburn was appointed first-team manager on 9 October and his first match ended in a 3-1 home defeat to Athletic Newham. Since then the club have announced Josh Davenport, Lewis Soraf, Ladi Okunwobi, Tom Franks and Caiden Imbert-Thomas, and Ross Debrick returned as a player on Friday. Hoddesdon assistant manager Andy Prutton said: "the Coggeshall we have watched earlier in the season might not necessarily be the Coggeshall that turns up at Lowfield."

Southend Manor had levelled in the 90th minute through substitute Taylor Webster before conceding again.

Cannons Wood reported a goalless draw with FC Baresi, their third game in a row without a goal, and travel to Hertford Heath on Saturday. Stansted confirmed that forward Nathan Scarborough has left the club.

Rayleigh Town beat White Ensign 3-2 in the Essex Senior Cup and have been drawn at home to Hullbridge Sports in the next round. May & Baker EC went out of the FA Vase on penalties against a Step 5 side, the club saying they had the chances to win in 90 minutes.
