Hinckley AFC reach FA Vase third round despite Ky Green injury and red card

Hinckley AFC reached the third round of the FA Vase for the first time in eight years, winning 3-2 at Staveley in a tie that left them with nine men at one stage.

The club said they were missing six players before kick-off. Ky Green then had to be stretchered off after a six-minute delay following a 50/50 tackle about 20 minutes in, and Jordan Gray, recalled from his dual registration with Saffron Dynamo, replaced him. The club did not give any further detail on the extent of Green's injury.

Prince Ogbe was later shown a red card for what the club described as minimal contact while attempting to block a clearance, and Danny Fraser was sent to the sinbin for dissent. Hinckley scored while a man short: Gabe Webster headed them back in front in the 70th minute, and Chandler Pegg added a third six minutes from time. Zach Tellyn had put them ahead in first-half stoppage time. Nathan Moss and Charlie Reece scored for Staveley, and a Staveley player was sent off after the final whistle.

Manager Chris Tullin was short enough on numbers that he named himself and assistant manager Adam Cooper among the substitutes. The attendance was 329. The club said it now awaits Monday's third round draw, and Tullin described himself as immensely proud after the win.
