Guisborough Town appoint Matthew Tymon as manager as Ashington add Briggs, Barwell add Benbow and Grantham Town add Wharton

Guisborough Town have appointed Matthew Tymon as first team manager, with Jason Kennedy joining as assistant manager.

The club announced the appointments on social media alongside a statement from chair Andrew Bell on its website.

Ashington have brought midfielder Dean Briggs back to the club on a dual registration with Blyth Town, who play in the first division of the ENL. He will be in the squad for Saturday's home game against Beverley Town, who are newcomers to the NPL East Division.

Manager Marc Ellison said: "I think it was important for the group to get someone of Dean's experience. He's won the league we are in and scores goals from midfield which is something we are lacking and something which we have spoken about."

Ellison added: "He's a bit of a cult hero at Ashington and I think he'll compliment the group really well. He's won trophies and promotions and hopefully it all works out and he enjoys his time back with us."

Barwell have signed 35-year-old forward Luke Benbow, who completed his move earlier this week. He has previously played for Stourbridge, Bromsgrove Sporting, Nuneaton and Solihull Moors. Benbow started and scored a hat-trick on his debut in a 4-0 win over Corby Town. The club thanked Rushall Olympic for their assistance in making the deal possible.
