FA Cup replays dominate a busy midweek across the steps

A batch of Emirates FA Cup replays settled places in the third qualifying round this week. Cray Wanderers won 2-0 away at Maidstone United, Ola Ogunwamide and Ade Yusuff scoring after the sides had drawn 1-1 at the weekend, when Tom Leahy's opener for Maidstone was cancelled out by Rob Strachan. Worksop Town beat AFC Telford United 5-2 in their own replay with three goals in extra time after the sides finished 2-2 in normal time, while Wimborne Town needed penalties to see off Weston-super-Mare, winning 4-3 on spot-kicks after a 1-1 draw through extra time; Wimborne now face Crowborough Athletic, who themselves progressed against Hampton & Richmond Borough.

Farnborough lost at home to Uxbridge in a Second Round Qualifying replay, while Cirencester Town edged Farnham Town 2-1 to end the latter's run. Bedford Town beat Kings Lynn Town 2-1, and Harborough Town progressed courtesy of a second-half Michael Jacobs goal against Rushall Olympic, setting up a home tie with St Albans City, who saw off Three Bridges 4-0 thanks in part to Kai Brown. Chatham Town will travel to Dorking Wanderers, who beat Southall 5-4, while Dulwich Hamlet face Salisbury FC away.

Away from the cup, Malvern Town celebrated their first-ever Step 3 win, beating Gloucester City 5-2, and Bath City won the Somerset derby at Taunton Town, ending the home side's unbeaten run stretching back to November. Bridgwater United stayed top of their league with a 2-0 win over Shepton Mallet, and Guiseley announced that Nethermoor Park will host three Leeds United Premier League Cup group games this season.
