Eccleshall collect two as August awards spread across the non-league pyramid

August's awards have finally been handed out, and the spread of them says something about how broad this level of the game is. At Three Bridges, Kevin Rivera was named Isthmian League Player of the Month, the award presented by Pete Bowers. In the North West Counties League, Toby Green of Prestwich Heys took the Premier Division prize, while Sabu Smith of Cammell Laird 1907 won First Division North — the club's first winner of the award since Kyle Sambor in September 2019.

Eccleshall did better than anyone, collecting two. Nicky Parker was named North West Counties League Player of the Month and goalkeeper Adam Whitehouse won the paxsport Goalkeeper of the Month award for the First Division South, his second time receiving it. Team awards went elsewhere: Clipstone were named United Counties League Division One Team of the Month, presented by league representative Roger Walker, New Milton Town accepted the 360Player Wessex League Division One Club of the Month award through captain Jack Broad and chairman Gary Squires, and Maghull were given PST Sport Club of the Month.

The club-level votes produced a long list of forwards. Louis Britton scored four goals in the month to win August Player of the Month at Weston-super-Mare, where Louie Derrick took Goal of the Month for his finish against Chelmsford City. Ethan Taylor also scored four, including a brace in the FA Cup win over Winchester City, to be voted Dorchester Town's winner. Jack was named Player of the Month at Bradford Town after six games and four goals. Ollie Morgan won at Salisbury, Seweryn Streczen at Bath City, Scott Robinson at Taunton Town, Blue Joy at Hitchin Town, Josh Mazfari at Redcar Athletic, Chris Castle at Abingdon United, Dan Trendall at Hullbridge Sports, Kelan Swales at Liversedge, Charlie Pettipher at Crawley Down Gatwick, Aitor Andon at Penn & Tylers Green and Paul Sherburn, a summer signing from Rossington Main, at Beverley Town. Harry Viggars collected his July/August award at Penistone Church in the form of a £50 bar tab voucher.

Not everything was about players. Leatherhead committee member John Loveridge received a Merit Award from Surrey FA for services to non-league football and to the club. Nathan Underwood of Mulbarton Wanderers was named Norfolk FA Coach of the Year (Disability) at the county's volunteer awards ceremony, and Rob Gwilliam, who manages the under-18s at Worcester Raiders, took the Hereford FA Coach of the Year award.

There were honours further afield too. Windsor & Eton coach Kev Kyley was part of the England side that won the Transplant Football World Cup in Frankfurt, beating Spain in the final. Kseniya Pikarevska of Biggleswade United has been called up to the Latvia Under-17s, and Horbury Town skipper Joe Angell has been selected to represent the English Police Force.

Two milestones close things out. At AFC Croydon Athletic, BP became the club's record goalscorer, passing 60 goals, while Longwell Green Sports will induct six new names into their Hall of Fame at a reunion event.
