Dronfield Town open the gates for Chris Milly's farewell as United Counties week turns

Dronfield Town dominated the news in United Counties League Division One this week. On a Saturday evening the club released a statement and an interview with Chris Milly, and the response, the club said, was "astonishing". Milly will take charge for one final game against Dunkirk at the Stonelow Stadium, and the club made entry free for all. "We've broken the internet tonight," they wrote. "Can we break attendance records as well?" Lewis Naylor, described by the club as someone they already know "pretty well", has been named the new men's first team manager.

Milly's last few days in the job began with defeat. Selston beat Dronfield 3-2 after an "awful first half", in their own words, and goals from Smith and Hines levelled the match at 2-2. Joe Naylor then won it with the last kick of the game. Dronfield's own report called it a heartbreaking end. Selston also signed centre back Logan Green on a dual registration from Ilkeston Town, and thanked Heanor Town for waiving the seven-day approach period.

Dunkirk arrive with a difficult week behind them: a 3-0 home defeat to Pinxton, then a 4-1 loss at Stapleford Town. Pinxton followed their win at Dunkirk by winning 2-1 at Maltby Main, with Harvey Scott named man of the match.

Lewis Smith's second-half goal, set up by Jake Henderson, earned Sleaford Town a 1-0 win at Sandiacre Town and lifted them to fifth. A midweek trip to Louth Town ended 1-0 to the hosts. Elliot Broughton scored just before half-time, and Sleaford hit the bar through Kyle Onyon and had other chances, which left them sixth. Louth had earlier knocked AFC Mansfield out of the League Cup through goals from Harvey Lidgard and Ethan Scott.

Cotgrave beat Clifton All Whites 3-1, with Jack Vipond scoring first and Prestyn Moore adding two after the break. Clifton said they had lost half a dozen players during the week, which they called a step too far after a run of good form. Shirebrook Town beat Southwell City 2-0, with Southwell blaming missed chances, and Radford won 4-1 at Gedling Miners Welfare.

At South Normanton Athletic, a game was called off with an ambulance on site after an injury to a player named Alex. The club has since shared a fundraising page for him.
