The week in Midland Football League Division One was shaped by two sides in form, and by the fixture between them that now awaits. Coalville Town and Leicester St Andrews meet at The Volt on 24 October, with Coalville fourth and St Andrews fifth, and both arrive on the back of winning weeks.
Coalville's was the harder won. They beat Holwell Sports 3-0 on Tuesday, Ronnie Morley scoring twice, in the 3rd and 25th minutes, and Ryan Seal adding the third in the 70th. The night also brought a 100th appearance for Ryan Green, who has recently taken the captaincy. On Saturday they fell behind at Boldmere Rangers when Lucas Edwards scored in the 28th minute, and the club's own report admitted they were a long way from their best. Farah Abdi headed the equaliser in the 77th minute and substitute MJ Semahimbo struck the winner in the 80th, giving Coalville a fifth successive league victory. Keenah Rosser, who made his debut the previous Saturday, was taken off early with a suspected broken nose.

Leicester St Andrews made it six points from six. On Tuesday they won 2-1 at Lutterworth Athletic, who played much of the game with ten men, Adam Shaw scoring for the hosts. On Saturday Zak Adams scored a hat-trick, in the 4th, 23rd and 68th minutes, in a 3-0 home win over Bustleholme, though St Andrews' McNulty was sent off in the 53rd minute.
At the top, Gornal Athletic won 4-2 at Lutterworth, where Alex Vineall and Brady Middleton scored for the home side. Gornal also have an FA Vase second-round tie at Ashby Ivanhoe on 31 October. Northfield Town beat Chelmsley Town 1-0 through a first-half Harry Wilson goal, having beaten Coventry Copsewood 4-2 the previous Tuesday.
Copsewood did bounce back, winning 5-2 at Saffron Dynamo, who had themselves won 1-0 at Stapenhill on Tuesday. Stapenhill then won 2-0 at Ingles, leaving Ingles with back-to-back defeats after losing 2-0 at Birstall. Anstey Town lost 2-0 on Tuesday but beat Cradley Town 5-1 on Saturday.
Elsewhere, Heather St. John's beat G.N.G Oadby Town 3-2 on Tuesday against nine men, then lost 3-0 at Kirby Muxloe. Oadby drew 2-2 at Holwell on Saturday. Birmingham O J M beat FCV Grace Dieu 1-0 with a Reece Morris goal.
