Bromsgrove end Bury Town's perfect start as Bath City sale completes
The week's most eye-catching result in the Southern League Premier Central came at the UK Electrical Stadium, where Bromsgrove Sporting ended Bury Town's perfect start to the season. Bury had arrived unbeaten in six league games, scoring freely, but a second-half Ollie Harrison header settled it 1-0 as Bromsgrove manager Tim Flowers praised "open, fast and fluent football" from his side. It extended Bromsgrove's winning run to five in all competitions and their fourth successive clean sheet, and came off the back of an FA Cup win over Nuneaton Town the previous weekend.

At the top of the Isthmian Premier, Enfield Town moved three points clear after beating Cray Wanderers 3-2, Amrit Bansal-McNulty settling a match in which the Wands had led through Ade Yusuff and Soul Kader. Enfield's manager Billy Holland, fresh from being named the league's Manager of the Month for August, has his side scoring at will - twenty goals in six league games - and they remain the division's form team. Dulwich Hamlet preserved their unbeaten home run at Champion Hill with a victory over Brentwood Town, continuing a fine home record that had yielded fourteen goals and just two conceded heading into the weekend.
In the Southern League Premier South, Uxbridge continued to set the pace with a ruthless 5-0 win over Chichester City, debutant Eddie Allsopp scoring on his first appearance after joining from Carshalton Athletic. George Moore added two more as Uxbridge extended their unbeaten start. Behind them, Basingstoke Town drew 1-1 at Gloucester City, a result manager Dan Brownlie could take encouragement from given his side have now taken points from last season's play-off contenders Poole Town and Gloucester alongside a draw with Bath City.

Off the pitch, Bath City completed a takeover by an investor group led by Andrew Stalbow, securing a seed round of more than £6m aimed at pushing the club up the pyramid. New board members greeted supporters in Charlie's Bar ahead of the Chippenham Town derby, which Bath won 2-0 through goals from Donovan and Scott Wilson. At Eastbourne Borough, chairman Simon Leslie used a lengthy interview to defend the club's investment in padel and a wider "Sporting Village" concept, while confirming new investment from San Antonio, Texas is imminent - even as his side's league form remains inconsistent following three straight defeats before Saturday's 3-0 win over Cheshunt.
In the Northern Premier League, Curzon Ashton made it four wins in a row with a 2-0 victory at Lancaster City, while Whitby Town produced an impressive second-half turnaround to beat Hyde United 3-1 having trailed at the break. Near the bottom, Emley were given a harsh lesson in the gap between levels, losing 4-0 at Bury's Gigg Lane in front of 3,471 fans, though their FA Cup run continues with a home tie against Spennymoor Town.

Across the FA Cup landscape, several Step 3 clubs progressed to the second qualifying round, with Dartford - fielding nine academy graduates in their first-round win over Westfield - among those still involved. Wimborne Town needed extra time to see off Portishead Town, while Cray Wanderers earned an attractive tie against National League South leaders Maidstone United after edging Lewes in a replay.
