There was little to suggest what was coming when Wellington took an early lead against Bridgwater United inside two minutes of their Somerset derby at the Carly Press Ground. Bridgwater, top of the table and fresh from two cup wins, replied through Shea Mannings within six minutes, then scored twice more inside a minute through Camilo and Haydan Chambers to lead 3-1 by the twentieth minute. A red card for Wellington on fifty minutes, for an early challenge on a drop ball, effectively ended any resistance, and Bridgwater added six further goals through Camilo's assist work, a Will Collins penalty and hat-trick from the bench, and further strikes from Mannings and Chambers. The 9-1 final score sent Bridgwater back to the top with five different scorers on the afternoon, and Collins, only 25 minutes into his return from injury, was named man of the match after a hat-trick. Bridgwater's Dave Pearse also passed 300 games in charge during the club's midweek Somerset Premier Cup win over Ilminster Town, while Harry Horton recently reached 250 appearances for the club against Buckland Athletic.
Liskeard Athletic made it back-to-back away wins, following up a 3-0 victory at Wellington by beating Wells City 3-1 through George Newton, Ben Collins and James Lorenz. St Blazey and Sidmouth Town played out a goalless draw at Manstone, extending Sidmouth's run to seven points from nine and back-to-back clean sheets, with goalkeeper Jacob Oc borrowed from Honiton Town while their own keepers recover from injury.
Among the FA Vase draws confirmed for 10 October, Bovey Tracey will host Brimscombe & Thrupp, Brixham welcome Carterton, Buckland Athletic face Hamworthy Recreation, St Blazey travel to Longwell Green, Tavistock Association host Elburton Villa, and Portishead Town welcome Street.
