Boston Town manager Chris Funnell reaches 100 games with best win rate of any predecessor

Chris Funnell took charge of his 100th game as Boston Town manager at Grantham on Saturday, the same match in which Harry Limb reached his own century for the club.

According to the club, Funnell is only the eighth person to reach the milestone. His record stands at 56 wins, 21 draws and 23 defeats, a win rate of 56%. Only Bob Don-Duncan (54.29%) and Bill Brindley (51.24%) had previously won more than half their games. Funnell also has the best record of any Poachers manager for avoiding defeat, with 77% of matches won or drawn. Don-Duncan (72.81%), Martyn Bunce (70.54%) and Brindley (70.25%) are the only others above 70%. Don-Duncan managed 1,188 matches over two spells.

Funnell, formerly in charge at Lincoln United, took over just over two years ago after Bunce retired from management. His first game was a 3-1 home defeat to Atherstone in the FA Vase, but Boston Town then went six matches unbeaten.

The club said his time in charge has been marked by long unbeaten runs, including 13 successive wins from February to August this year. That sequence brought the United Counties League title and two victories to start life at Step 4.
