Axminster Town find first win at Okehampton Argyle after cancellation

Axminster Town had spent the week in an unusual position. The club announced that one fixture against Okehampton Argyle had been cancelled because their opponents were unable to raise a side. By the time the first team travelled to Okehampton on Saturday 3 October, Axminster described themselves as "still searching for that first win of the season". They found it. Owen Dibling, named man of the match, scored to make it 0-1 and set up the second, according to the club.

There was a more local fixture to come. Bridport lost 1-0 at home to Bishops Lydeard, who the Bees said took their chance on a day when "things just don't go for you". Fred took their man of the match award, and Sam Fisher returned to the squad. Bridport now travel to Axminster on Tuesday, a game the club says is "usually an eventful fixture".

Other scores at the top end were less tidy. Middlezoy Rovers drew 3-3 at Crediton United, conceding a last-minute equaliser after Acey Mead's hat-trick. Cullompton Rangers beat Teignmouth 6-0 on their Youth Day, with five goals before the break and Lloyd White adding the sixth.

Penzance had a mixed week. They lost 4-0 at Newquay in the Cornwall Senior Cup, which ended their defence of the trophy. Four individual errors were punished, player-manager Mark Vercesi said, adding: "We competed well for large parts of that game, and we will look at those positives more than the scoreline." On Saturday they won 1-0 at Sticker, with goalkeeper Harry Salmon named man of the match for a clean sheet that included some brilliant saves.

At Helston, Mousehole came back from 2-0 down at half-time to draw 2-2, with goals from Matt Stephens and Steffan Van Blerk. Helston Athletic then beat Wadebridge Town 2-0 in front of 124. Elsewhere, Callington Town won 2-1 at Holsworthy, Ilfracombe Town beat University of Exeter 2-0 through Sam Phillips and Cass Beeton, and Elburton Villa lost 2-3 to Tside after being reduced to ten men with 35 minutes left.

Honiton Town drew 1-1 at Ilfracombe, where they felt a goal had been wrongly ruled out and a point should have been three. They later beat Newton Abbot Spurs 4-1, who said they were a massively depleted side.
